Incoming Classes of 2012 and 2013

Welcome to the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. We have been preparing for your arrival and hope to make this an exciting and rewarding week for you. The Orientation and Foundations for Law School sessions will be different from any new student orientation you have experienced in the past. Not only will you attend workshops and classes to familiarize you with the overall study of law and the legal profession, but this week will consist of substantive classes led by your actual first year professors and instructors. By the end of the week, we want you to be familiar with your surroundings and the expectations we have of you.

Over the summer, you are required to read Ruta K. Stropus and Charlotte D. Taylor’s Bridging the Gap between College and Law School: Strategies for Success, 2d Ed. (Carolina Academic Press 2009). Be sure to check the Orientation website on July 15 for additional Orientation and Foundations for Law School assignments. This site will have all the information you need to begin to navigate your way through your first year. Your Orientation schedule (be sure to check for your correct section once it is posted), links to all your assignments, and important information can be found via that link. Check it often for updates and changes that might occur.

On behalf of the faculty, instructors, staff, and administration, I would like to welcome you to NSU Law. We wish you the best of luck in pursuing your goal of becoming a lawyer. If there is any help you need along the way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
