December Graduation 2008

The Commencement Ceremony celebrates the successful completion of your law academic program. Participation in the ceremony does not guarantee that a student has graduated, nor is it a requirement to graduate. However, this ceremony is traditionally a rite of passage, which family and friends anticipate and remember as a formal marker in a graduate's life.

Eligible Students -
You are eligible to participate if you finished your degree requirements by July 2009.

Where -
This year's Graduation will be held at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center.

Get driving directions from Google Maps Or download directions

Parking will be available in the NSU parking garage. Get parking pass.

When -
The Commencement Ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Graduates should please arrive by 1:00 p.m. so that they can be briefed and lined up for the processional into the Auditorium.

The Ceremony -
The Graduation will begin with a processional into the Auditorium by the graduates and will be followed by remarks from Dean Steele and a keynote speaker will be announced at a later date. Graduates' names will be called individually for the official hooding. A photographer will be on hand to catch this special moment. You will then shake hands with Dean Steele and exit the stage on the left. After some brief closing remarks, the ceremony will conclude. We expect the ceremony to last about 1-1½ hours.

The ceremony will be followed by a champagne reception for the graduates and their guests in the atrium of the law center immediately after graduation.

Your Participation -
In preparation for this event, we need some important information from you. Please take a few minutes to fill out the Participation Form if you plan to join us at the the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center for this event and return it to Jen Birchfield birchfieldj@nsu.law.nova.edu  in the office of International, Online and Graduate Programs before November 1st, 2009.

Wearing your Regalia -
You will receive your regalia on December 20th, prior to the ceremony.

So that you look your very best, here are a few suggestions on how to wear your cap, gown, and hood. Your cap should be worn so that the mortarboard is level and not placed on the back or side of your head. The crown should rest approximately one and one-half inches above each ear. This also helps to assure that the mortarboard is level. Your tassel should be worn on the left-hand side and will remain on the left.
